Description
Brevetoxins are known to bind to site 5 of voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve cells, leading to channel activation. This leads to disruption of normal neurological processes and causes the illness clinically described as neurotoxic shellfish poisoning (NSP).1 PbTx-OAc acetate contains a brevetoxin B backbone. This brevetoxin derivative does not occur in nature and is used as an internal recovery standard in quantitative analytical procedures involving determination of Brevetoxins.2
