Foxp1 is expressed in nearly every human tissue, including lymphoid (e.g. tonsil, spleen, and thymus), epithelium, kidney, blood, and motor neurons. Altered Foxp1 expression has been observed in, among others, cancers of the breast, lung, colon, prostate, and pancreas. Moreover, patients with diffuse large B cell lymphomas express high levels of Foxp1, which can be utilized as a prognostic marker for survival. Finally, Foxp1 has been reported to be involved in early B cell development (i.e. pro-B cell to pre-B cell transition) and motor neuron specification and connectivity.
